Scientific Management
According to F.W.Taylor “Scientific management means knowing exactly what you want men to do and seeing that they do it in the best and cheapest way.”
Principles of Scientific management
(1) Science not Rule of Thumb.
Taylor advocated the scientific thought in every element of management rather than following what others have been doing, without thinking.
(2) Harmony, Not Discord.
He was of the view that there should be team spirit and mutual cooperation between the management and the workers.
(3) Co-operation, Not Individualism.
There should be mutual give and take policy between the management and workers.
(4) Development of Each and Every Person to His or Her Greatest Efficiency and Prosperity.
The best possible effort should be made to develop each and every person in the organization to his greatest efficiency.
