As per CBSE Circular No. Acad-30/2024 dated 3rd April, 2024, the theory part of Question paper for 80 Marks will consist of:

50% - Competency Focused Questions in the form of MCQs/Case Based Questions, Source-based Integrated Questions or any other type 
20%
- Select response type questions (MCQ)
30% -
Constructed response questions (Short Answer/Long Answer Type Questions, as per existing pattern)

Prepared on the basis of Sample Paper issued by CBSE on 30.07.2025 vide 66_Notification_2025.pdf (cbseacademic.nic.in)

  • Question Nos. 1 to 20 are of 1 mark each.
  • Questions Nos. 21 to 24 are of 3 marks each.
  • Questions Nos. 25 to 30 are of 4 marks each.
  • Questions Nos. 31 to 34 are of 6 marks each.
  • An internal choice has been provided in 2 questions of three marks, 2 questions of four marks and 1 question of six marks.

Word Limit:

Answers to the questions carrying 3 marks may be from 50 to 75 words.

Answers to the questions carrying 4 marks may be about 150 words.

Answers to the questions carrying 6 marks may be about 200 words.

MCQ type Questions can further be:

  • True/false type.
  • Fill in the blanks with options.
  • Complete the sentence.
  • Picture based question.
  • Identification of a concept/term/process etc.
  • Correct the sequence of steps in a process.
  • Match the columns etc.
  • Assertion Reasoning questions
  • Case-based and source-based questions

Board expects students to study in detail. So, all NCERT books of the concerned subject must be read carefully, rather churned by them to attempt these questions. In such questions, choices given can be too close and confusing.

To prepare well, a student must check the sample paper issued by the board.
