How to Score Good Marks in CBSE Exams?

Every student is struggling with this question, and why not? Everyone wants to score ninety plus percentage.
Here are some tips and tricks, apart from those our seniors have already written here, to accomplish this goal:

1) Always give adequate time to all subjects:

Students often think that Business Studies is a theory subject. "I will score good marks only by studying one night before." It's not like that. You have to regularly attend the class that too attentively.

2) Avoid reading at night before exam:

You must avoid reading late at night because sleep is very important and the lack of sleep can be very harmful even on the day of exam. It results in problem to concentrate, without which you won't be able to do your exam well. Always study your notes and other study material in the day time and have a good sleep at night. This will help you to have a good energy level the next day.

3) Never leave important topics:

Always categorize your topics according to their weightage in the exam. This will help you to secure maximum marks and will push you towards your goal.

4) Always underline important words/sentences:

Underlining important words and sentences can help you while doing your final revision for the exam. During revision, those highlighted words will attract your eyes and you will definitely read those.

5) Give importance to theory of Accountancy also:

It is not purely a practical subject. Theory is also there and it will definitely add marks to boost your percentage.

6) Always prefer chair and table:

The last tip, Always prefer chair and table for studying than bed because we can feel tired and there are possibilities that you can sleep.

For scoring good marks, study for hours is not the only parameter for success,. A perfect blend of smart work and hard work will help you to nail your exam preparation.

Bursting a Common Myth

Prakash JoshiFirst, I would like to burst a myth “If you want to score good, you have to study for 10 to 12 hours a day". Really??

  1. Every individual is unique having his own strengths and weaknesses. First, Try to find your strong topics and weak topics, and give more time to weak topics to gain mastery.
  2. You don't have to study for 10 to 12 hours a day, studying for 3 to 4 hours daily, You can master your concepts very easily.
  3. But, during exam days you have to increase your study hours to boost your preparation.
  4. I have seen many students whose focus is on solving questions rather than understanding the concepts, First master your concepts then go for solving the questions.
  5. You have to modify your approach while dealing with different subjects.
  6. Self-study is the key 🔑.  If you are giving n number of hours to attend classes, double the hours for self-study.

For Accountancy:

  1. The subject like Accountancy demands time and practice. You don't have to solve 500 to 600 questions. Just solve 100 questions but of different types. Focus on quality of questions not on quantity.
  2. There is also some theory portion which covers a significant part of your paper. Study theory portion at least once a week, but don't ignore it.
  3. Some say “You don't have to use calculators in Accountancy”. This subject consists of different questions: some are too short, some are too lengthy and tricky as well. Such questions can demotivate and break your rhythm. I suggest, you can use calculator to gain confidence in beginning but don't make it a habit to use it as you are not allowed to use calculator in exams.
  4. Don't use proper formats of various accounts every time while solving problems as they are very time consuming. Just use them at the beginning phase of practice and in exam.
  5. During exam days, try to solve at least 5 -10 sample papers on desk with timer. Create an environment like examination hall. Feel that stress and rush, that generally happens in actual exam.

For Business Studies:

  1. The best way of studying Business Studies is to connect the various concepts and topics with real life.
  2. After clearing all the concepts of a chapter try to learn the key words from NCERT textbook so that you can use them in your answers. This makes your answer more impactful.
  3. To master the case studies, your concepts should be very strong and the key words of the NCERT should be on your tips. This helps you to think in right direction.

How To Score 90 Percent In Board Exams?

Don’t count hours, study till you understand the topic completely.

Ishita SharmaSome tips that I followed while preparing for my Business Studies and Accountancy exams are:-

For Accountancy:

  1. Regular practice is must. Practise Accountancy regularly. Don't just solve the practical questions, try to understand meaning and learn to differentiate between them as some topics can seem to be similar.
  2. Don't use calculators, it seems effective at the time of practicing but can cause trouble during the exam.
  3. Time management can be an issue when it comes to Accountancy exam. So, after completing the school recommended book, solve as many sample papers as you can as it gives an idea about the pattern of the question paper and also makes us habitual to solve the paper in time.
  4. Read the theory and underline important terms and definitions, this makes a huge difference.

For Business Studies:

This is a subject which appears to be boring to many students.

  1. So, to understand the content, read it and practice by writing it. The most important thing to do while preparing for Business Studies is to practice as many case studies as you can. This makes you familiar with the content and makes you capable of solving the cases timely and accurately.
  2.  And just know that "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.”- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Balance between Studies and Extra-curricular activities

Vishwas Kakkar1Extra-curricular activities and studies both are important for a student. Students should not just only focus on studies but should also get engaged in some extra-curricular activities to relax the mind. I am a Commerce student and also had Mathematics as my main subject.

I love to play PUBG, which most of the people think is bad for children, I play the game at a professional level and also participate in many tournaments. I also love to edit videos and try new effects, transitions, etc.

I scored 95% in my 12th class, most of the students who score this much usually say that they didn’t use mobile phones and were away from social media, but I am not like that. I know how to maintain a balance between my studies, hobbies and social media.

One of the most important things is that you should know which thing should be done when. When I used to study I didn’t think about the game or the messages. I just focused on my study, and the same goes for when I played the game or while surfing social media.

While studying I used to take some breaks after selecting a checkpoint. I tried to understand most of the concepts at school so that I get some time to pursue my hobbies. It’s not like I didn’t study at home. At home, I tried to solve more questions and try to understand things completely.

During the exam days I maintained some distance from the game as well as social media. I used to play the game and talk with my friends to relax my mind because during the exam days there is a lot of mental pressure on students. What I used to do was, I would complete a chapter and then for 15 minutes, I would relax.

The study was my main priority, sometimes I skipped playing to study. In the end, I will just say that you should know how to maintain a balance between studies and extra-curricular activities, you should relax and should not let studies affect your mental state.

How To Score 90 Percent In Board Exams?

Tips for Board Exams.

RupaliJust passed out Class 12th Commerce, One of the biggest milestones in my life. When you reflect back upon your last year, there are just some memories to cherish, some good, some bad, nonetheless. It was a time well spent!

I must say, batch 2020-21 will be going to be a unique batch because of the pandemic. To make your golden years more memorable and worth, I want to share few tips regarding  board exams. which might help you.

The most important ,take your internals seriously ! Prepare your projects well.

  1. To score good in exams, you need to remember that Everyone reads the same concept , but the point is to understand it. One must have the conceptual clarity.
  2. Do cumulative revisions. I don’t prefer to study whole day. Just study for 1-2 hours per day but with full concentration.
  3. Our generation is the one who is mostly busy in their social life like insta, snapy and many more …ha ha..well Don’t worry, I am not saying don’t use them. I also use them but you can use them precisely.

You could use them for remembering few concepts, I have come across such stuff like

“ If a man proposes  a girl directly!! – it means concept of direct selling”.

In this way ,you will enjoy as well as it  will help you to retain that concept for a longer time. But please don’t write such stuff in your exams.

  1. Make a doubt copy while studying. After completion of a topic you will know on which topics you are lagging.
  2. In the last few months of exam use only one book for solving extra questions because QUALITY is more important than QUANTITY.

6. The craziest thing I did in +2 was  I used to go to chill out before every exam as it literally refreshes your mind ,but do this only if you have prepared well.

Always remember, time is always sufficient. Don’t make excuses. Use, Fayol's Principles of management to manage your own life.

While concluding , this message is especially for you my juniors:

Your limitation is just your imagination.

Don’t regret on what you have lost , you still have lots

opportunities to rise and shine.

Just say cheers!! To your life and enjoy the moments and study:)

How To Score 90 Percent In Board Exams?

Balance in Studies and Extra-curricular Activities

SonaliYes, we can have a healthy balance in academics and extra-curricular activities without ruining our career. Most of the students are of the view that to score best in 11th standard and 12th board exams we should have to focus only on studies and that’s it.

But by having such hectic life and pressure of marks ,you can never improve your performance. While academics are the top priority, it is essential to equally indulge in extra-curricular as they not only help students to switch off from the hectic schedule but also to improve the personality.

I scored 96% in 12th, 2020 Board Exams and I am also a National Level Judo player. I was able to achieve such performance by having three things in my mind.

  • Proper time management

By having proper schedule, we can create a healthy balance between studies and extra-curricular activities . You should always manage your time in such a manner which helps you to give proper time to your studies and have enough time left to enjoy your hobbies as well.

  • Priority

Always give priority to that field which you want to pursue throughout your life. Mainly students give more importance to academics than their hobbies which is not wrong. But if you feel you can have better career in extra-curricular activities, then go for it. By having one thing in mind “BALANCE”.

  • Relax your mind

Do not have a stressful mind because it has many bad consequences. Always try to relax your mind to get rid of stress. Try to perform in extra-curricular activities, as it helps in relaxing mind. Build your new personality, be curious to perform every activity. Always try to be all rounder.

“Studying in 30-50 minute intervals with 10 minute breaks in between is the most effective way to retain information”

Some tips on how to prepare for examinations

Harshpreet KaurEvery student wants to achieve goods marks in 12th class, but it is only possible if they study hard and effectively. I scored 95% in 12th ,2020 C.B.S.E. Exam. I follow some tips which I am keenly going to share here, so that other students get benefit by these tips.

  • You should have to make study a habit. Read through your books on daily basis and make notes on what you read. It will help you in understanding the topic easily.
  • The second thing is that you should have clarity about different concepts because if you are not clear about the concepts you study, then what you studied goes all in vain.
  • Managing your time effectively is crucial. You should always need to remember that it is not how long you study but how effective you are in your studies. I have never studied for long, like for 5-6 hours but only for 1-2 hours with full focus and concentration.
  • Give some extra time to that subject/topic you find difficult as it will help you understand that subject/topic more clearly.
  • Having some short rest intervals between your sessions of studies as no one can give attention for so long to a particular thing. So take some rest so that you feel relaxed and confident.
  • Don’t panic before your exams as then, it gets all messed up and a person does silly mistakes in exams.

"Success will never lower its standard to accommodate you. You have to raise your standard to achieve it."
