Art Integration in CommerceArt Integration in Accountancy and Business Studies have become important recently as never before. As per the, Circular No.: Acad 33/2020, dated 14th May, 2020, issued by CBSE, regarding Art-Integrated Project for Classes I to X and Reporting of Implementation of Art- Education and Art-Integrated Learning by Schools.

All schools must adopt and implement Learning Outcomes prepared by NCERT ,for the ultimate purpose of Competency Based Education (CBE) and application of learning in real-life situations.

Only innovative and joyful experiential learning practices as Art-Integrated and Sport-Integrated Learning, Storytelling, etc. can help in achieving this purpose.

Circular No.: Acad 33/2020, dated 14th May, 2020 "Art-integrated education will be embedded in classroom transactions not only for creating joyful classrooms, but also for imbibing the Indian ethos through integration of Indian art and culture in the teaching and learning process at every level." It  will strengthen the linkages between education and culture.

Para No.5 of the above circular, " Art Integrated Learning(AIL) will continue as a pedagogical tool for classes I to XII, in addition to the Art Education under co-scholastic area as provided in the Secondary School Curriculum of the Board.

Art activities which can be integrated with different subjects to aid learning are given in Annexure-II of this circular.

Para No.6, The schools are required to upload data of the Art-Education and Art-Integrated Learning projects of students in the AE&AIL portal at the link http://cbseit.in/cbse/web/ArtEdu/LandingPage.aspx for enabling students of class X and XII to appear in Board exam.

The suggested list given in Annexure II of this circular can be useful for selecting various topics for the purpose of Art Integration in Accountancy and Business Studies of Classes 11th and 12th.

Art Integration in Accountancy

Following are the types of suggested activities, for Accountancy, the activities have been mixed up intentionally.

Use of various media - ppt, chart, scrap files etc.

  1. Chart showing types of Accounts with as many examples as the students can write.
  2. Chart of detailed Classification of Types of Accounting Errors.
  3. Power point Presentation of Factors Affecting Goodwill.
  4. Chart showing the Treatment of Goodwill on Admission of new partner.
  5. Scrap File containing Maximum number of Vouchers from the syllabus.

Skit based on day-to-day life situations and from textbooks

  1. Skit with discussion regarding subject matter of Partnership Deed.
  2. Skit explaining rights of Equity shareholders and Preference shareholders.
  3. Skit on reasons of difference between Bank Balance as per Cash Book and Bank Balance as per Pass Book.
  4. Skit on effect of Accounting Errors on Trial Balance.

Correlation with Home Science

  1. Opening of Bank Account.
  2. Comparison of Cash Book with Pass Book.
  3. Collecting copies of Share Certificate from students.
  4. Showing to class, Annual Report of a company brought by student/students.
  5. A student can arrange a copy of Partnership Deed that can be shown and discussed in class.

 Collage and mosaic work

With a variety of coloured papers and coloured printed pictures/photographs from magazines and newspapers.

  1. Various notices published by the companies, in newspapers like that of name change, mergers, takeover etc.
  2. Various court cases published in newspapers regarding auction bid of property of an insolvent proprietor.
  3. Decided cases, relating to different accounting issues of a sole proprietor and companies.

Role play

  1. Different types of Partners.
  2. Request by sole-proprietor to bank for loan.
  3. Discussion on formation of Partnership Deed.
  4. Discussion on Admission of a new partner.
  5. Discussion regarding choice of a particular type of Share/Debenture for investment purposes.

Arts Exhibition

  1. Different small things like craft items, best out of waste items etc. made by students can be put on exhibition and sale. They can be asked to prepare cash book. The result i.e. profit may be used to distribute prizes for the students.

  1. Visit to a bank(video by permission).
  2. Video by students explaining the Rules of Double Entry.
  3. Video by students explaining the Terms relating to Issues of Shares/Debentures.
  4. Video by students on explanation of Limitations of Single Entry System.

  1. Creating a slideshow of different types of vouchers.
  2. Creating a ppt of different types of share certificates.
  3. Ppt containing different terms relating to Stock Exchange.

Designing through Photoshop / and other Apps

Art Integration in Business Studies

Following are the suggested activities for integration in Business Studies of classes 11th and 12th, in addition to Paper-Pen Activities.

  2. Detailed Classification of all human activities.
  3. Power point Presentation on 'Make in India' initiative, 'Demonetisation'.
  4. Chart showing the Pyramid for levels of management.

  1. Skit on the customers interacting with a shopkeeper selling books , finding difficulty in satisfying all at the same time.
  2. Discussion among the partners regarding subject matter of Partnership Deed.
  3. Skit depicting Karta's role.
  4. Skit explaining types of partners.
  5. On factors affecting choice of form of organisation.

Puppet stage or theatre/ model
