Control is checking performance according to the standards set in the function of Planning.

2. Continuous process:

It is an ongoing, dynamic function that involves a continuous review of performance and not a one-time exercise.

3. Control is all pervasive:

Control is exercised at all levels of management, and is done in every functional area and at each unit or department.

4. Action is the essence of control:

The very purpose of control is defeated if corrective action is not taken for improvement of performance or the revision of plans.

Control measures current performance and helps in guiding for the corrective action which further helps in future performance as per plans making it forward looking.
